“Happy New Year” won the the Audience Award for Best Film at the 1st Annual Peace on Earth Int’l Film Festival (POEFF), held in Chicago at the historic Biograph Theatre this past weekend.
Festival Director Nick Angotti called the film “a wonderfully intense piece about the true casualties of war —we’re thrilled to have ‘HNY’ in the festival.”
Earlier this month, “HNY” was awarded 1st Place for Best Acting at the Rhode Island Int’l Film Festival.
Stay tuned for upcoming festivals screening dates/times.
Michael Cuomo won the 1st Place Award for Best Acting in “Happy New Year” at the Rhode Island Int’l Film Festival. During his acceptance speech, Cuomo remarked about his close ties to the project, despite his initial concerns. “When Lorrel first sent me the script, I read it and was completely terrified, but I called him and said, ‘we have to do this.’ Since then, we’ve dedicated the last year or so to the “Happy New Year” project, shedding light on the Iraq vets who are coming home with severe PTSD as well as those contemplating suicide. It’s nice for this work to be appreciated. Thank you.”
