Cuomo Wins Best Acting Award at RIIFF

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Michael Cuomo won the 1st Place Award for Best Acting in “Happy New Year” at the Rhode Island Int’l Film Festival. During his acceptance speech, Cuomo remarked about his close ties to the project, despite his initial concerns. “When Lorrel first sent me the script, I read it and was completely terrified, but I called him and said, ‘we have to do this.’ Since then, we’ve dedicated the last year or so to the “Happy New Year” project, shedding light on the Iraq vets who are coming home with severe PTSD as well as those contemplating suicide. It’s nice for this work to be appreciated. Thank you.”
